Composition:

Each Vial contains:
Penicillin G Procaine USP with Aluminium Stearate injectable oil suspension
Equivalent to Penicillin G 3,000,000 i.u

Descriptions:

This preparation is available in the form of suspension of Aluminium Stearate containing Penicillin G Procaine.Its advantage is that,it has a prolonged action thus absorbed and excreted slowly.
Therefore a single dose injection of this preparation can maintain an effective concentration in blood for 12-24 hours.

Indications:

It has the same indications as penicillin.As its peak blood concentration is relatively low,it is only indicated in mild infections caused by penicillin sensitive bacteria,such as tonsillitis,scarlet fever,erysipelas,furuncles and carbuncles.It is also effective for syphilis,Vincent’s angina and gonorrhea.

Pharmacological action: N/A

Usage and administration: 

It is given by i.m injection only.It should be shaken well before use.500, 000 i.u-1,000,000 i.u each time in divided doses.

Side effect and contraindication:

Administration of therapeutic dosages of penicillin G procaine can result in abortion in sows. Ototoxity, neurotoxicity or nephrotoxicity.
Hypersensitivity reactions.

Hypersensitivity to penicillin, procaine and/or aminoglycosides.
Administration to animals with a serious impaired renal function.
Concurrent administration with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.

Precaution: 

Before administration skin tests of procaine and penicillin should be made. It should not be administered to patients hypersensitive to penicillin and procaine.
