Oxytong 20 L.A.

Each ml contains Oxytetracycline 200mg.

OXYTONG 20 L.A. is indicated for treatment of following diseases caused by oxytetracycline-susceptible organisms in cattle, sheep and swine:
Pneumonia and shipping fever complex associated with Pasteurella spp. and haemophilus spp.; infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (pinkeye) caused by Moraxella bovis; foot rot and diphtheria caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum, bacterial enteritis (scours) caused by Escherichia coli; wooden tongue caused by Actinobacillus lignierisii; leptospirosis caused by Leptospira pomoma; wound infections and acute metritis caused by strains of staphylococci and streptococci organisms sensitive to oxytetracycline.
Rickettsia and mycoplasma are also sensitive to OXYTONG 20 L.A.

By deep intramuscular injection.
The recommended dose rate is 20mg/kg (i.e., 1ml/10kg) body weight, one treatment is usually sufficient at such dose rate because effective blood concentration can maintain over 48 hours, treatment can be repeated 48 hours following the initial injection, when necessary.
OXYTONG 20 L.A. can also be administered at normal dose rate of 6.6-11mg/kg body weight, one treatment per day for consecutively 3-5 days depending on the type and severity of the infection.
Maximum recommended dose at any one site:
 Cattle   : 10ml
 Swine   :    5ml
 Sheep   :    5ml

Not for use in animals suffering from hepatic or renal damage.
Not for use in animals in late pregnancy.
Not for use in animals hypersensitive to tetracyclines.

After intramuscular administration local reactions can occur, which disappear in a few days. 
The use of tetracyclines during the period of tooth development including late pregnancy, may lead to tooth discolouration.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur. 

If concurrent treatment is administered, use a separate injection site.
Bacterial resistance may exist or develop after prolonged use of oxytetracycline.

Oxytetracycline is bacteriostatic drug, it will interfere the bactericidal action of β-lactams, do not give OXYTONG 20 L.A. in conjunction with β-lactams.
