Nitrotong 34

Nitroxinil Injection 34%

Commercial Presentation:

    • 100 ml
    • 250 ml

    Composition

    Each ml contains Nitroxinil 340mg.

    Pharmacology

Nitrotong 34 is nitrate derivative from benzene compounds and presents a flukicide effect and is commonly used and the one with best spectrum from all the nitrate derivative trematocides. The mechanism of action corresponds to a respiratory metabolism interference of the helminth, blocking the energy production by mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. Nitrotong 34 impedes to use the oxide-reduction reactions for adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production. After the use of all its energetic reserves the parasites die due to starvation.
Nitrotong 34 also causes the scolex detachment of the intestinal mucosa and the proximal proglottid of the cestode.

    Indication

Nitrotong 34 is indicated for control of Fasciolosis (larval and adult stage) caused by Fasciola hepatica and F.gigantica, gastrointestinal parasitism caused by Haemonchus spp., Bunostomum spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Oestrus spp. in cattle, sheep, goats and camel, as well as Ancylostoma spp.and Uncinaria spp. in dogs.

    Dosage and Administration

    By subcutaneous injection only.
Normal aseptic precautions should be observed.
The Standard dosage is 10mg nitroxinil per kg bodyweight (=1.5 ml of Nitrotong /50kg b.w.).
If animals are to be treated collectively rather than individually, they should be grouped according to their body weight and dosed accordingly, in order to avoid under or overdosing.

    Contraindications

Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
    Do not exceed stated dose.

    Over dosage

In the event of accidental over dosage, the symptoms are pyrexia, rapid respiration and increased excitability. Patients should be kept cool, and dextrose saline should be administered intravenously.

    Adverse Reactions

Small swellings are occasionally observed at the injection site in cattle. These can be avoided by injecting the dose in two separate sites and massaging wel lto disperse the solution. No systemic ill effects are to be expected when animals are treated at normal dosage.
