Ivertong Plus

Ivermectin plus Clorsulon Injection

Commercial Presentation:

    • 100 ml

    Composition

Each ml contains:  Ivermectin 10 mg,  Clorsulon 100 mg.

    Description

It is clear, slightly yellow to yellow and slightly viscous liquid.

    Pharmacology

Ivermectin is a broad spectrum endectocide of the avermectin family. Ivermectin is isolated after purification and hydrogenation of the avermectin family compounds which are obtained from the fermentation of the soil organism Streptomyces avermitilis.

Ivermectin is a macrocyclic-lactone derivative which has a broad and potent antiparasitic activity against nematodes and arthropods.

It acts by inhibiting nerve impulses. Ivermectin binds selectively and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels which occur in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells. This leads to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions with hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cell, resulting in paralysis and death of the relevant parasites. Compounds of this class may also interact with other ligand- gated chloride channels, such as those gated by the neurotransmitter gamma- aminobutyric acid (GABA). The margin of safety for compounds of this class is attributable to the fact that mammals do not have glutamate-gated chloride channels. The macrocyclic lactones have a low affinity for other mammalian ligand- gated chloride channels and they do not readily cross the blood-brain barrier.

    Indications

Ivertong Plus is indicated for the treatment of mixed trematode and nematode or arthropod infestations, due to adult and immature roundworms, lungworms, warbles, mites, lice and liver fluke in cattle, sheep and dog.

Cattle: Ostertagia ostertagi (including inhibited o. ostertagi), o. lyrata, haemonchus placei, trichostrongylus axei, t. colubriformis, cooperia oncophora, c. punctata, c. pectinata, bunostomum phlebotomum, nematodirus helvetianus (adults only), n. spathiger (adults only), oesophagostomum radiatum, dictyocaulus viviparus, fasciola hepatica (adults only), hypoderma bovis, h. lineatum, linognathus vituli, haematopinus eurysternus, solenopotes capillatus, psoroptes ovis (syn. p. communis var. bovis), sarcoptes scabiei var. bovis.

Sheep: Oestrus ovis, sarcoptes scabiei, psoregates var ovis, trichostrongylus axei, haemonchus spp., ostertagia spp., trichostrongylus spp., nematodirus spp., cooperia spp., bunostomum spp., strongyloides spp., oesophagastomum spp., chabertia spp., trichuris spp., dictyocaulus spp.

Dogs: Sarcoptes scabiei, otodectes cynotis, toxascaris leonina, toxocara caninum / cati, uncinaria stenocephala, ancylostoma caninum, trichuris vulpis, dirifilaria (larval stages).

    Dosage and administration

    By subcutaneous injection only.

    Cattle and Camels : 1 ml/50 kg.

    Sheep and Goats : 0.5 ml/25 kg.

    Dog: 0.5 ml/25 kg

To ensure administration of a correct dose, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible; Choose proper dosing device and check the accuracy.

Consult local veterinarian for assistance to determine the best control program.

    Side effects

Transitory discomfort has been observed in some animals following subcutaneous administration. Soft-tissue swelling and/or slight pain at the injection site has also been observed. These reactions have disappeared without treatment.

In case of hypersensitivity reactions a symptomatic treatment should be applied.

    Precautions and warnings

Do not use in cattle producing milk for human consumption.

Do not use in non-lactating dairy cows including pregnant heifers within 60 days of calving.

Do not use by the intravenous or intramuscular route.

Do not use in animals known to be hypersensitive to the active substance.

Do not use high-dose ivermectin in Collies and related herding breeds (e.g., Border Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs, Australian Shepherds), particularly those without confirmed MDR1 gene mutation status.

Low-dose regimens require veterinary risk assessment. Therapeutic doses (e.g., for acaricidal treatment) carry a high risk of fatal neurotoxicity in susceptible dogs.
