Barclean
Composition
BARCLEAN is a sterile injectable solution, each ml contains Sulfamonomethoxine Sodium 50mg, Trimethoprim 10mg.
Description
It is a yellowish to orange-yellow clear liquid.
Pharmacology
Sulfamonomethoxine is a structural analog of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), it can compete with PABA for dihydrofolate synthetase in bacteria, thus inhibits bacterial synthesis of dihydrofolic acid from PABA.
Trimethoprim is a structural analog of the pteridine portion of dihydrofolic acid, so it can compete with dihydrofolic acid for dihyrofolate reductase, and prevent dihydrofolic acid from being reduced to tetrahydrofolic acid.
Tetrahydrofolic acid is a necessity for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines, and the latter participate in the synthesis of DNA and RNA. With combination of Sulfamonomethoxine and Trimethoprim, BARCLEAN provides dual block to tetrahydrofolic acid synthesis of bacteria from two different links, the growth and reproduction of bacteria is therefore inhibited. Moreover, the antibacterial action can be enhanced to several to hundred times, and the antimicrobial range can be enlarged, and the production of resistance strain can be reduced.
Indication
BARCLEAN is indicated in cattle, horse, sheep and swine. It has strong inhibitory action against most gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria, mycoplasma, rickettsia. It is effective in treatment and control of genitourinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract and systemic mixed infection caused by a variety of sensitive strains, eperythrozoon, toxoplasma. Clinic symptoms such as: unknown high fever of 40℃-42℃, puerperal fever, repeated ups and downs in body temperature, dyspnea, cough, jaundice, empurple or ecchymosis in the skin, unable to stand.
1. Genitourinary tract infection: such as mastitis, endometritis, ovarian cyst and urethritis and nephropyelitis caused by staphylococcus and pyesis streptococcus.
2. Gastrointestinal tract infection: vomit, anorexia, weak or non-ruminant, diarrhea caused by escherichia coli, salmonella, etc.
3. Respiratory tract infection: hyperthermia, deprementia, dyspnoea, cough, asthma, watery nasal and oscular discharge caused by pasteurellosis, streptococcus pneumonia, contagious pleuropneumonia, haemophilus influenza.
4. Systemic mixed infection: Acute and systemic bacterirotoxic, septicemia and mixed infection of severe diseases caused by various pathogen infections and mixed infection of various pathogens.
5. Other infection: such as neuraxitis, laminitis and arthritis.
Dosage and administration
For infections caused by various sensitive strains, protozoa or toxoplasma:
By intramuscular or intravenous injection, 1 dose daily for 3 days, detailed dosage is as follows:
Cattle, horse: 0.1ml/kg b.w.
Sheep, swine, calves, foals: 0.2 ml/kg b.w.
Lambs, piglets: 0.2-0.3ml/kg b.w.
Intravenous injection should be given slowly after diluted with sufficient physiological saline. For severe cases, 2 doses may be given on the first day with an interval of 8 hours after first injection.
For newly infected clinical mastitis or those with systemic secondary infection, 1 time daily, 3 days regime of BARCLEAN can achieve good effect, detailed dosage is as follow:
1. Intramammary infusion: 5ml of BARCLEAN per mammary cistern after diluted with not less than 15ml of physiological saline, or
2. 0.1ml/kg intravenously after diluted with sufficient physiological saline or intramuscular injection directly.
Product characteristic
BARCLEAN is a new generation of long-acting sulfonamide whose antibacterial action ranks the first in sulfa drugs. BARCLEAN has a dual pharmacological effects --- it can resist not only bacteria, but also protozoon. It has strong inhibitory effect on gram-positive and some gram-negative, also it has strong antiprotozoal effects. Single use of BARCLEAN has a significant effect on toxoplasmosis. Moreover, it can coordinate with diminazene to cure trypanosomiasis and babesiosis, coordinate with oxytetracycline to cure anaplasmosis and eperythrozoonsis, but these drugs should be administered separately. BARCLEAN can effectively shorten the course of the disease and boost the recovery of animal.
Rapid acting: BARCLEAN gets into the body in the form of oil ions, which can quickly cross the biomembrane and then come into systemic circulation with blood. It reaches the peak of effective blood concentration in a short time and can reach all the organs with high concentration.
Long acting: BARCLEAN is oil emulsion injection which exists in the plasma in the form of oil ions which excretes slow and can maintain high blood concentration. Solvent of BARCLEAN is slow-release delivering agent, the drug substance can maintain effective blood concentration for 24-36h.
Safety: Compared with some other sulfa drugs, sulfamonomethoxine sodium has a relatively lower acetylation rate in blood and urine, and the acylate has higher solubility, so it is not easy to cause crystalluria and hematuria.
Strong penetrating power: Sulfamonomethoxine can easily penetrate blood brain barrier, blood-thymus barrier, and other barriers between blood and tissues. It can reach the tissues and organs that cannot be reached by other drugs and display therapeutic effect.
Side effects
Side effects are mainly caused by over-administration and longterm administration. Including:
1. Urinary system damage: crystalluria, hematuria, albuminuria, urodialysis, renal edema.
2. Digestive system defects: inappetence, vomiting, diarrhea, colic, enteritis.
3. Hematopoiesis dysfunction: reduction of granulocyte and platelet, hemolytic anemia, disturbance of blood coagulation
4. Young livestock's or young poultry's immune system inhibition: immune organ bleeding and shriveling.
5. Allergic reactions: drug fever, skin rashes.
Precaution and warning
1. BARCLEAN should not be used together in the same needle with acidic substances, such as vitamin C and calcium chloride, can be injected separately.
2. BARCLEAN should be used cautiously or forbidden to be used in poultry and pregnant livestock, caution should also be taken when used in livestock with impaired liver and renal.
3. Light, transportation, longtime storage may lead to slight change of color, it is normal and does not affect the therapeutic effect.
4. Sulfa drugs may be acetylated in liver, acetylated sulfa is hardly soluble in acid urine and easy to separate in form of crystallization. Overdose of BARCLEAN may cause crystalluria and hematuria.
Once occur the situation, medication should immediately be stopped. Sodium bicarbonate should be supplemented to alkalize the urine when long term use of BARCLEAN.
5. Medication should be suspended or stopped if there is no therapeutic effect after one course of treatment to avoid possible allergic impact on gastrointestinal tract of animal.
